A whirlwind week in Vegas for our Miss America contestant (Yakima Herald-Republic)

LAS VEGAS — She’s not getting much sleep, maybe six hours a night, but she’s having the time of her life. Elyse Umemoto, the reigning Miss Washington and a Wapato native, is competing this week in preliminary competitions leading up to Saturday’s Miss America pageant.
